Troop 652G was founded on February 1, 2019, when Boy Scouts of America opened up its iconic scouting program for older youth ages 11-17 (formerly known as Boy Scouts) to young women. FAQ About Scouts BSA
- Is the program co-ed?
- Currently, Scouts BSA is not a co-ed program. Young men, ages 11-17, will join Scouts BSA boy Troops. Young women, ages 11-17, will join Scouts BSA girl Troops. The troops remain single gender. BSA is running a limited pilot program for combined (co-ed) troops from September 1, 2024, through July 2025. After the pilot, there will be a decision made on whether to offer combined troops as part of the Scouts BSA program.
- Did the organization’s name change?
- No. The Boy Scouts of America, in name and as an organization, has stood for character development and values-based leadership training for more than 108 years. On May 7, 2024, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) announced that it would change its name to Scouting America on February 8, 2025, its 115th anniversary.
- Is the curriculum different for young men vs. young women?
- No. Our existing programs are relevant for young men and women. After all, the values of Scouting as outlined in the Scout Law – trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent – are relevant and important values for both young men and women.
- Can I be a member of more than one Scout program?
- Yes. There are no restrictions on membership to multiple Scout programs. It’s just like being a member of different sports teams.
